A) Every force, must have an equal and opposite force to exist; just like positive and negative charges.


B) Only force can overcome distance


Therefore, in a balance of equal and opposites, if the distance is altered in relation ship to distance on the other side of the balance, power is altered in reciprocal / inverse relationship.


So, only a straight line between the equal and opposite forces, takes the minimal distance, therefore a force multiplier of 1 for the loading. Any, bend/ angle alters the distance to achieve the same work (connection between equal and opposites); therefore takes/ gives more power/ loading in reciprocal.


When we turn a wrench, we pull perpendicular to it, for this is the maximum non-inline/ non-straight line angle, so we get the greatest multiplier of our efforts.


A rope hanging with load on bottom, will want to hang straight, to assume minimal, straight line/ inline/ no extra distance traveled to connect the 2 equal and opposites of load and support with the rope device as link. If we force laod to hang at an angle to the flow of gravity, the rope link must be now longer to have the same amount of downward drop(direction of empowering force of gravity). Now, to do the same work, of having load hang 6 foot (or whatever) altitude lower than support altitude, takes a longer distance. This longer distance for the same work achieved (altitude change so as to measure on the axis of direction of gravity flow and not axis of rope); gives higher tension in line, through this leveraging.


i beleive inside the secret world of knots, the same world holds true. Mostly drop out the straight, non-force manipulating parts, to have the magic of knots, under same science as rigging!


The way the Standing Tension Part is bent by Bitters, the angle of the line, and the tightness of the bight aorund host/ mount/ self all are points of manipulating these distance force multipliers in using lines /knots to give / take leveraging.
