IGKT Name:Carrick Knot

The Carrick is a symetrical knot with four ends. It is possible to tie it in two isomeric forms D and L, this may be important if a twist is imparted into the cord during work which could cause one isomer to tighten, while the other may unravel.

Because the knot is symetrical, it can be rotated about its vertical and horizontal axis and remain identical.

The knot can be used to form two distinct bends using ends A and C (identical to B and D)or using A and D (identical to B and C)

It can also be used to tie two distinct loop knots
